You Have Authority
“Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” (Luke 10:18-20)
Many years ago, a spiritual father was teaching on the simplicity of walking in our God-given authority and dominion. (Luke 10:18-20) He shared an experience he had in a restaurant. As he sat at his table trying to eat lunch, the man across from him was eating and mumbling. Dr. Siddiki very quietly, yet with authority commanded the demon spirit to be silent, muzzled. The spirit obeyed and he was able to enjoy the rest of his meal. You walk in the same power he walked in and Jesus.
A few years ago, I was asked to go to a mental hospital locally l to pray for a young woman who was demon-possessed. I was told ahead of time she would hiss at me when I walked through the door, however, I was not afraid. (Isaiah 41:10) I know the power and authority I walk in. They gave me ten minutes to meet her. There were lots of people around, and I knew it was not the time to cast out the demon. Why? Because Satan loves the spotlight, and I wasn’t going to give him access to the limelight. (Luke 4:31-35) Her friend went in with me. Sure enough, I went in and she hissed. I did exactly what Jesus did. Jesus rebuked the devil and it obeyed. I said, ‘the Lord Jesus rebuke you Satan!’ Immediately the spirit was silenced. Then a few minutes later, she did it again. I firmly said, ‘the Lord Jesus rebuke you Satan!’ This happened several times, then and her friend caught on and began speaking exactly what I said with authority and the spirit obeyed. I waited until she was released from the hospital to go set her free from the chains of bondage that had her bound.
The enemy had come in from an open door in a broken area of her life where she felt shame and guilt, but God! Someone I was mentoring went with me and I instructed her to pray in the Spirit while I was ministering to this precious woman. We went to a private room with her. I took authority over these unclean lying spirits of guilt and shame and commanded them to go back to drylands from whence they came in Jesus’ name! Within moments, God delivered her and baptized her in the Holy Spirit! God completely transformed her life the same as He did the man who came to one of Jesus’ meetings. (Luke 4:31-35) God is no respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34) God desires to use you as a vessel to set the captives free. Study the New Testament of how Jesus set people free from demon spirits and go, model, what He did. You are His disciple. What He did through me as a conduit He desires to do through you! I can hear the Father saying now, ‘go get ’em, tiger! You are armed and dangerous with the Word of God in you. Defeat the enemy and set the captive free because you have the power!
