Why Do Leaders Fall
Beloved one, anyone is apt to fall. You may think you cannot be deceived or fall away, but a word to the wise – you can! Satan knows your weak areas – we are taught in the Word of God to stay away from temptation. (Proverbs 5:7-10) Every believer is apt to be tempted – Satan comes to lure each one away by your evil desires. When your desires are acted on, that leads to sin. (James 1:14-15) Sin has a life cycle – it either grows or dies depending on whether you starve it or feed it. It all begins in your thoughts! What you think on the longest becomes the strongest. If you meditate on your thoughts, sin will grow and overtake you. When you repent, meditate on the Word of God, day and night, sin will exit your life through repentance, and you will become holy day by day, and step by step. (Joshua 1:7-9) How does sin gain entrance into your life? Sin gains access:
1. When you believe it will never happen to you, that is called deception. You may think you can’t be deceived, but you need to think again. If it were possible, even the elect would be deceived. (Matthew 24:22-24)
2. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 17:18) God hates pride.
3. Idol worship. Putting someone on a pedestal is called idol worship. God is a jealous God, and He will have no other gods next to Him or before Him. (Exodus 20:3-6) Run from idolatry. (1 Corinthians 10:14) Therefore, put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5)
4. You are too busy. Be still and know that I am God. (Psalms 46:10) God longs to have time with you. It’s only when we put God; first, we will succeed in all do. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
5. Holiness is compromised. Compromising morals and the Word of God. You want the blessing of God; you must obey all God’s commands. Holiness is an essential weapon of defense against the enemy’s attack (Ephesians 6:14). Holiness comes from brokenness and humility.
6. Unhealthy relationships. Don’t build unhealthy relationships with the opposite sex. You must be on high alert and be accountable to someone else. The enemy doesn’t play. His motive is to take you out because you are a threat to his kingdom. Use wisdom and do not meet with the opposite sex alone. Temptation comes to lure you in. (Proverbs 5:710).
7. Lack of accountability is often broken or violated. Accountability is a safeguard, but it’s not bullet-proofed. By itself, accountability doesn’t work. (Romans 14:12, Acts 17:30) You keep yourself accountable. Your heart must be focused on honoring God and His Word. Accountability adds another level of security in the battle against sin. (Proverbs 5:7-10)
8. Loneliness can be an excuse. (Colossians 3:1-4) Ministry is challenging and can easily take its toll. From experience, when you spend time with the Father daily, spending time in His Word, meditating, and doing what you are called to do, there is no place for loneliness—feeling a sense of entitlement is often the beginning of justifying wrong choices. We are all called to serve. (Matthew 23:11)
It is a privilege and honor to worship, serve, and proclaim the truth, God’s Word to others. Don’t allow the enemy to come in and lead you down the wrong path. Sin can be silenced through meditating on the Word of God, day, and night with a thankful heart. If you have fallen, take a sabbatical, repent, and be restored. Whatever you do, don’t bleed on God’s sheep. Heal, then minister out of the anointing, not out of your pain! (Numbers 32:23) During your healing process, hold fast to the confession of your faith without wavering, which has great reward, (Hebrews 10:38) it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God. (Hebrews 10:31) Whatever you do, don’t cast, or throw away your faith! (Hebrews 10:35) The just live by faith and are role models to others. (Hebrews 10:38)
Pray this with me:
Father, it is my deepest desire to please you in all that I do. Without faith, it is impossible to please You. (Hebrews 11:6) Create in me a clean heart Father and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalms 51:10) You alone are my refuge and strength, a present help in the time of trouble. (Psalms 46:1) I repent for wrong thoughts and actions. Help me, Jesus! Cleanse my mind. Thank you for burying my sins, (wrong thoughts and actions) in the sea of forgetfulness and remembering them no more. I declare and decree I will meditate on the Word of God, day, and night in Jesus’ righteous holy name. Amen.
