There Are No Big I’s or Little You’s
My child, the highest place of servanthood, is the lowest place. Jesus and the disciples had just left Galilee, and He didn’t want anyone to know where they were because He was teaching His Inner Circle. He said, ‘the Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise.’ The disciples didn’t understand what He meant and were afraid to ask Him. (Mark 9:30-32) They went to Capernaum, and when Jesus was in the house, He asked them, “What were you all arguing about on the road?” But they kept quiet because they had argued about who was the greatest among His disciples.
Sitting down, Jesus called to the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” (Mark 9:33-25) It takes all of us working together as a team to build the Kingdom of God. There are no Big I’s or little you’s! Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility – count others more significant than yourself. (Philippians 2:3) When Jesus esteemed Himself lower than others, look what happened in (Philippians 2:9-11) God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Every tongue acknowledges that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
If you want to go higher in the Kingdom, you go lower. If you try to go higher, God will put you lower. If you go lower, God will lift you up. If you take the best seat, He will move you to the lowest and last seat. If you take the least or last seat, He will move you to the first seat. The Kingdom of God is opposite the world. If you want to have authority, you have to submit to authority or come under authority. If you want to receive more so you can help more people; you have to give more. Here on earth, it is the opposite: if you want to live – die. If you want to help more people, you must serve more people. Always put yourself at the bottom. He brings down the mighty from their thrones and exalts those who are humble. (Luke 1:52) When you exalt yourself, you will be humbled, but if you humble yourself, you will be exalted. (Matthew 23:12) Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, and He will exalt you in due time. (1 Peter 5:6) The only purpose in being lifted up is to lift someone else up!
