Beloved one, the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit is a gift, and you receive this gift by faith the same as salvation. He is the third man in the Trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Since He is a person, you can have a relationship with Him and talk to Him. He is my best friend, I talk with Him throughout the day, and He goes with me everywhere I go, and it is the same with you! Jesus told His disciples it is best for you that I go away because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send Him to you. And when He comes, He will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me! Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged. “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. When the Spirit of truth (the Holy Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own but will tell you what He has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring Me glory by telling you whatever He receives from me. The Holy Spirit is our: 1. Advocate – supporter, promoter, and encourager, this is the reason you should pray in the spirit every day because you are talking to the third one in the Trinity. (John 16:7)
2. Convicts us of our sins. The Holy Spirit is the One who convicts our hearts of sin. (John 16:8) 3. He is the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13)
4. He guides us (John 16:13)
5. He will tell you about the future. (John 16:13)
Some of you are seers, others hear, either way, it is the Holy Spirit Speaking to you. Pay attention! That is prophecy.
Jude 1:20-22 says you must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Once when Jesus was eating with the disciples, He commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift He promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
(Acts 1: 4-5) On the day of Pentecost, all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. (Acts 2:1-4)
When I was growing up my grandparents were my Pastors. At the age of 9, I was baptized with the Holy Spirit but rebelled in my later teens. I went back to a church that taught the Word but didn’t believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and stayed there for 5 years. One day a cousin came by to see me and had been baptized with the Holy Spirit the night before and shared her experience. I sat there and listened hungering spiritually for what she had. I told her I didn’t think my husband would ever go to a church like that. He overheard and the next morning we went to that very church. I stepped out of the car onto the pavement and began trembling because of the presence of God and could not stop the tears. I was so hungry for more of God I could have received this beautiful gift right there in the parking lot.
I wept all through the service sitting in the back row with my husband and daughter. He was called to work around 1 pm that day, it had never happened before. I knew at that moment I was going to church that night and receiving the Holy Ghost. My daughter and I went to church and could hardly wait for the Pastor to finish his message and give the altar call so I could receive this precious gift. I went to the opposite end of the altar, and the moment I did I began speaking in tongues. It was real! I didn’t need anyone to lay hands on me and pray. My life was changed that night forever! I have never been the same. I was so hungry I could have received this gift at home or anywhere and you can too. It is available to you and all you must do is want this gift by faith. Ask for it, then open your mouth and begin to speak the utterance that comes up from your belly. Get out of your head and into your heart and receive this life-changing gift! You too will never be the same!
