Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
The Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them out ahead of Him, two by two, into every city and place where He was about to go. (Luke 10:1 Amplified)
My beloved child, teamwork, does make the dream work. What is your dream? Nothing great has ever been accomplished alone, and Jesus knew that. He had many followers He had mentored for some time. Then the day had come when Jesus selected seventy and sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he intended to go with an assignment. (Luke 10:1) Even though they were apprehensive about their first ministry tour, Jesus had equipped them with everything they needed to succeed. Has there been a time you felt apprehension over doing something new, and you didn’t feel you were qualified? If so, find a mentor! Mentors are important in your life because they will empower you, and they will help you to get started on the right path with everything you need to be successful. Jesus led by example; it came very naturally for Him to mentor others because He knew His purpose, and He walked in power and authority, giving it away! Mentors give away everything they know! You will always learn from someone who walks the walk they don’t just talk the talk. They know what it takes to be successful and has made the necessary sacrifices you will need to make. A mentor knows what you don’t know, and they have been where you have not been. A mentor can shorten your learning curve. As a mentor, this is how Jesus equipped leaders:
1. He appointed them and sent them out. (Luke 10:1)
2. He gave them a meaningful task to prepare cities for His arrival. (Luke 10: 1)
3. He told them why their mission was so important. (Luke 10:2)
4. He calmed their fears with a long preparation speech. (Luke 10:2-16)
5. He cautioned them about possible hardships. (Luke 10:3)
6. He issued detailed instructions about potential situations. (Luke 10:4-11)
7. He imparted His convictions about their work. (Luke 10:12-15)
8. He rejoiced with them as they returned. (Luke 10: 17-18)
9. He evaluated them and debriefed them on their experience. (Luke 10:19-20)
10. He prayed with them and affirmed their gifts and their future.
(Luke 10: 21-24)
A mentor will believe in you before you believe in yourself. Jesus believed in these seventy men He sent out which propelled them to succeed. What is your vision for your future? Perhaps you need a mentor who has excelled in the field of expertise you desire to be launched out. Don’t wait around! Seek them out! Invest in yourself and your future; you are worth it!
