Rejoice Because Your Name is
Recorded in Heaven!
Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan), and nothing will [in any way] harm you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in Heaven.” (Luke 10:19-20 Amplified)
My beloved child, the Father, did not create you to be a lone ranger. As a lone ranger, you will be easily discouraged and can be distracted, losing focus on where I am taking you. Trying to go it alone makes you vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy who desires to destroy you. You ride with more confidence when you have a posse! Remember the Lone Ranger had a partner, and his name was Tonto. Jesus knew the importance of being a part of a team. Beyond His Inner Circle, the twelve disciples, He also had other followers – He formed thirty-five teams. Each team of two disciples, seventy in all, and He commissioned them (sent them) to go ahead of Him into every town He was about to visit. (Luke 10:1) He released them with these instructions:
Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. (Luke 10: 2) “On your way! Be careful – this is hazardous work. I am sending you out as lambs among wolves. Travel light! A comb and toothbrush and no extra luggage. Don’t linger around making small talk with everyone you meet along the way.” “When you enter a home, greet the family saying, ‘Peace to this house,’ and if they receive your greeting, then it is a good place to stay. But if it’s not received, take it back and get out. Don’t impose yourself! (Luke 10: 3-6 TPT) Stay at one home, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t move from house to house, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. (Luke 10:7)
“When you enter the town and are received, eat what they set before you, heal anyone who is sick and tell them, ‘God’s Kingdom is right on your doorstep!” (Luke 10:8-9) But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ‘the only thing we got from you is the dirt on our feet, and we’re giving it back! Did you have any idea that God’s Kingdom was right on your doorstep?” Sodom will have it better on Judgement Day than for that city. (Luke 10:10-12)
They obeyed, and after they went out two by two, they returned ecstatic with joy, telling Him, “Lord, even demons are subject to us in Your name.” (Luke 10:17) Jesus said to them, ‘while you were ministering, I watched Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Now you understand that I have imparted the anointing to you, now you have the power and authority to trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm you as you walk in this authority and power. (Luke 10:18-19) However, your real source of joy isn’t that these spirits submit to your authority but rejoice because your names are recorded in Heaven and that you belong to God’s Kingdom – this is the true source of your authority! (Luke 10:20)
