Praying with Results
Pray in the Spirit
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. (Romans 8:26 NLT)
Beloved one have you ever been in a desperate situation, and you didn’t know what to pray or how to pray? I have! When you don’t know what to pray or how to pray, pray in the Spirit. When you pray in the Spirit you are bypassing your thoughts and praying in alignment with God and His divine will.
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. (Romans 8:26 NLT)
1. Pray in the Spirit.
And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words. (Romans 8:26 TPT)
The Holy Spirit does not answer your prayers, He was sent to us as a comforter to help us in every aspect of our lives. He helps us in our weaknesses and empowers us when we do not know how to pray. The Holy Spirit rises up in us and super-intercedes on our behalf, pleading with words too emotional to verbalize.
Dr. P.C. Nelson affirms the Greek translation which says the Spirit makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be articulated in words.
For if I am praying in a tongue, my spirit is engaged in prayer, but I have no clear understanding of what is being said. (1 Corinthians 14:14 TPT)
My Spirit by the Holy Spirit within me prays, it is the same with you. We know not what we ought to pray. There are times it is impossible to know what to pray in the natural. The Holy Spirit works with you, but you are the one responsible for your prayer life. He wasn’t sent to do the praying for you, but He was sent to help you in every area of your life. When words escape your lips, and you are praying in tongues, that is the Holy Spirit helping you. These Groanings are inspired by the Holy Spirit coming from within you.
Charles Finney was an attorney turned preacher and is known as a man who prayed down revivals. At one of his revivals a godly woman who was married to a doctor who ridiculed her asked Finney to please come to her home, she was confident he could help reach her husband. On Monday he went for lunch. The doctor had a brother who was a farmer who also attended. The brother started praying blessing the food and a spirit of groaning came upon him. He grabbed his stomach and ran to a bedroom. Finney followed and he knew the farmer was travailing for his brother’s salvation and joined him.
You can help lift a spiritual load just like you can a physical load. With 45 minutes they felt the burden lifting. If you have a spirit of groaning at times you are making intercession for a lost soul. Pray it out! Once it lifted the two men began laughing. You should always pray until you begin praising. Their laughter was praise! Finney then went to the Drs. Office and told him his brother was fine, he was praying and interceding for his lost soul. The doctor dropped to his knees weeping and repented of his sins and was saved.
2. There is a prayer of intercession, don’t be afraid to yield to it – it’s for a purpose.
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays. (1 Corinthians 14:14)
My spirit is not coming from my head and it’s not coming from your head, so get out of your head. The Holy Spirit is helping you and me pray. I do not know exactly what to pray for as I ought. So, I begin to pray in the spirit, and many times I will get a revelation of who or what I am praying for.
A young Texas minister was hit head-on by a drunk driver. When his father arrived at the hospital the doctor told him his son’s neck and back were broken, he was paralyzed and would never walk again, and he was unconscious. The Dad stayed overnight with his son in the hospital and prayed in the spirit all night long (ten hours). He went to his son’s bed and his son was wide awake and told his dad, God had healed him. They told the doctor and insisted they take the cast off his neck and back and sure enough, the doctor was amazed and declared it was a miracle releasing him from the hospital and sending him home. The Dad got the job done when he prayed in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit helped him pray.
You can increase your power in prayer 100% by praying in the Spirit in tongues. So, go ahead and yield to the Holy Spirit and pray in the Spirit and you will see results!
