Jesus Models How to Set the Captives Free
But Jesus rebuked him, saying, ”Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him. (Luke 4:35 NKJV)
My child, have you ever encountered a demon spirit? What did you do? Jesus encountered demon spirits everywhere He went He modeled how we are to deal with demons. For example, Jesus went to Capernaum of Galilee and was teaching on the Sabbath. (Luke 4:31) Many people were surprised because He spoke with authority and power. (Luke 4:32) While He was teaching a man possessed with a demon (an evil spirit) shouted, ‘Go away! Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!’ (Luke 4:33-34) See how Jesus handled the wicked spirit – ‘the Lord Jesus rebuked (reprimanded) the demon, and said, ‘be quiet, (muzzled) and come out of this man He ordered!’ At that, the demon threw the man in the middle of the floor in the spotlight and came out without hurting or injuring him in any way. (Luke 4:35) Satan loves the spotlight, he loves to draw attention to himself or cause a scene. Everyone was amazed and said, ‘what a Word this is!’ With power and authority, even unclean spirits obey Him, and flee (take off running) at His command! So, when you encounter unclean spirits with power and authority, you can command them saying: I bind you unclean spirits, ‘the Lord Jesus rebuke you Satan, be silent, come out and go back to drylands from whence you came in Jesus’ name – I stand on the authority of the Word of God. Spirits do not have a choice – they must obey. Lead the person to Christ in repentance of their sins and instruct them on the importance of studying the Word of God daily. The Word of God has the power in it to save, deliver, heal and set them free permanently! Say this with me: “I got the power!” You walk in the same power and authority Jesus walked in. You can take authority and dominion over evil spirits.
