Jehovah Sabaoth – The Lord of Hosts
My beloved child, the Lord is fighting for you. Whether you are in a crisis, a storm, or in a battle, you are not alone! Do not fear! Stand firm! The Lord of Hosts is with you. Jehovah Sabaoth is His name, and He is fighting for you! You won’t even have to lift a finger, only be still! (Exodus 14:14) Jehovah Sabaoth is at work fighting for you. Sabaoth means ‘Hosts’ or ‘Army,’ and it’s used in reference to the angels that are fighting to help God’s people. The first time Jehovah Sabaoth appears in the Bible is in (1 Samuel 1:3) Elkanah who was Hannah’s husband went to worship and sacrifice unto the Lord of Hosts, Jehovah Sabaoth. The Lord of Hosts is referenced in the Bible 270 times, and it means the Almighty, Sovereign, Self-Existent God over all creation spiritually and physically. Jesus is the King of all heaven and earth, He is our protector.
The Lord of Hosts appeared when David took out Goliath. David replied to the Philistine, you uncircumcised Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (1 Samuel 17:45) David put a stone in his sling and slung it and struck Goliath. The stone sank in his forehead, and he fell to the ground. David ran and stood over him. He grabbed the Philistine’s sword and pulled it from its sheath and killed him, and he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw their leader was dead, they turned and ran! (1 Samuel 17:49-51)
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob, He is our refuge. (Psalms 46:7) Isaiah said, “If the Lord of Heaven’s Armies had not spared a few of our children, we would have been wiped out like Sodom, destroyed like Gomorrah. (Romans 9:29) Looking back over your life can you say, ‘if it had not been for the Lord of Hosts I would have been destroyed?’ The enemy has sought to destroy me, but God! (John 10:10) Jesus came that you may have life and have life more abundantly! Stop a moment and thank Jehovah Sabaoth for fighting for you. Even at this moment whether it looks like it or not, He is turning what the enemy meant for your harm around for your good and His glory! (Genesis 50:20)
