Jehovah Mekaddesh
The Lord Who Sanctifies You
“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. (Exodus 31:13 NKJV)
My beloved child you have been set apart made saints and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, King Jesus, our Jehovah Mekoddishken (or M’Kaddesh) the Lord who makes us holy. Jehovah M’Kaddesh appears in the Bible 700 times. It means holy, dedicated, set apart, sanctify. The first time we see Jehovah Mekoddishkem is in (Exodus 31:13). We must continue to live a holy life that pleases God. (1 Peter 1:13-25) Holiness is not something we must try to achieve by our own efforts. Holiness is a state-created and given by God. Sanctification is not a change of external appearances, but an internal change. (Matthew 23:25-28, 1 Thessalonians 4:7)
What is holiness?
(1 Corinthians 6: 9-11) Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Holiness is a reflection of God? Spending time in His presence, reading and meditating on Scriptures, applying them to your life day after day you will begin to look a lot like Jesus. That’s what holiness or sanctification looks like – ‘Jesus!’ He instructs us through scripture:
(Leviticus 20: 7-8)” Consecrate yourselves to me and be holy because I am the LORD your God. Obey my statutes and put them to work. I am the LORD who sanctifies you.”
Sanctification is essential for every follower of Jesus, and no one will see the Lord without holiness. (Hebrews 12:14) Seek peace with all, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.
We are sanctified by the Spirit.
(Romans 15: 15-16) However, I have written very frankly on some matters, as to refresh their memory. I have dared to do so because of the grace God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. I have a priestly duty to proclaim the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles become an acceptable offering to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit and by Jesus.
(Hebrews 13:12) That’s why Jesus too, sanctifies people through His blood, suffer outside the city gate.
3 Steps to sanctification:
1. The Holy Spirit: “obey His guidance” (Romans 8: 11-16)
2. The Word of God: Meditate and act according to it. (Ephesians 5: 25-27)
3. The Fear of the Lord: ‘Turn away and hate evil.
(Proverbs 1:7)
Sanctification involves separation, consecration, and purification for a particular purpose. It’s a continual process. Justification happened at the cross for the purpose of eternity. Sanctification is what happens between the cross and eternity. Set aside some time, dedicate this time to God in quietness, examine your heart, asking Jehovah M’Kaddesh to reveal anything you are not even aware of that’s in your heart. Repent. He will sanctify you, set you apart to deliver you, and bring you into the Holy Place.
