Jehovah Kanna –
The Lord Whose Name is Jealous
Beloved one are you fully aware that God is a jealous God? God is saying, “Look, you guys are Mine, and Mine alone, for I am a Jealous God (Jehovah Kanna or Qanna)”. The Lord is showing us, that we can have nothing in the place of Him. Anything that is in the place of God is an idol and must therefore be destroyed because His name is Jehovah Kanna! The Name of God always reveals His will & His Characteristics.
Many years ago, I went through a very painful divorce. I will never forget this as long as I live, it was the night before Easter and I was lying in a sleeping bed talking to God, and I had a divine encounter with the King of Kings. He said, ‘I want you to repent!’ I said, ‘for what?’ He said, ‘for worshiping idols!’ I said, ‘worshipping idols! He said, yes! ‘You put your husband on a pedestal, and I will have no other gods before Me! He said, ‘not only did you submit yourself to him, but you were subservient.’ You thought you were serving him, but you were subservient. Subservient means a person in a lower position. (A woman is to come alongside her husband as his helpmate, not walk behind him in a low position.) It was true! I lay on the floor crying my eyes out and repenting that night. God does not want you to put your spouse on a pedestal, or a child, or a business, career – He is a jealous God, and He will have no other God before Him. If you are an overachiever and you bend over backward in relationships, I am speaking to you. I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking to someone. Please listen. He wants you to love, honor, and cherish your spouse and love your children, raise them, and teach them to fear God – that’s your assignment. (Ephesians 6:4, Proverbs 13:24, 29:15, Deuteronomy 4:10)
Jehovah El Kanna means jealous God. Suggesting God looks at you and me with love and attention, as a faithful and passionate bridegroom looks after his bride. (Exodus 20:5) The first four of the Ten Commandments talk about our duty to God and the first commandment refers to worshiping Jehovah God Almighty alone. ‘Thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord whose name is jealous, is a jealous God.’ (Exodus 34:14) Psalm 83:18, God’s jealousy is a healthy, passionate, burning devotion for us. (Psalms 83:18) He refuses to share His position, praise, or glory with anything else in our lives.
Jehovah El-Kanna demands an exclusive love relationship with His people. He commanded us to, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:5) He goes on to command us, ‘you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9) Examine your heart today to make sure no one and nothing comes before God in your life, for He is a jealous God. Putting others first above God can prevent you from walking in the blessings.
