Jealousy
One Sabbath day, as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, his disciples began breaking off heads of grain to eat. But the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look, why are they breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath?” (Mark 2:23-24) Seriously! Were the Pharisees spying on Jesus and His disciples? Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you ever read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He went into the house of God when Abiathar was the high priest and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” (Mark 2:25-26) Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was created to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So, the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!” (Mark 2:27-28) Do you have a problem looking in the mirror, but you are good with looking at everyone else under a microscope? You can always see other’s issues, but you can’t see your own. Could you be a Pharisee?
I want to encourage you today if you are struggling with other people being jealous of you! Anytime you are effective, there will always be jealousy. When you are making a difference, people will be jealous. People are jealous of you because you walk in excellence and integrity. A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” (Proverbs 14:30) Surely resentment destroys the fool, and jealousy kills the simple. (Job 5:2) Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for fear of the LORD. There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” (Proverbs 23:17-18) Shake the jealousy from others off and stay focused on your assignment! Jesus stayed focus on His assignment, and He didn’t allow his enemies (the Pharisees) to move Him.
Pray with me:
Father God, I humbly bow in Your presence and repent if there is anything in me that is resentful or jealous. I forgive those who have been jealous of me. All I desire to do is please You in all I do and obey Your voice. I take authority and dominion over a spirit of envy and jealousy. I command that ugly spirit to go back to drylands from whence it came, and I release the Word of God in its place, which has the power to deliver, save, heal and restore. I ask you to smear the healing balm of Gilead in that area to restore in the all-powerful name of Jesus. Amen
