God has the Final Say
Beloved one, for several days the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me about King Ahab who wanted Naboth’s land. He wouldn’t sell it to him. So, his wife, Jezebel had Naboth killed so her husband could have what he wanted. Naboth was an innocent man, falsely accused and stoned to death to give King Ahab what he wanted. Does it sound familiar? He got what he wanted but it came with a curse. It reminds me of what is going on in our world today with Russia and Ukraine, Russia wants the land. God is still God no matter what goes on around us, and He always has the last word. This morning in my time with the Father, I just opened my Bible, and guess where it opened? You guessed it, (1 Kings 21) Naboth owned a vineyard close to the palace, Ahab wanted that land and tried to buy it. Naboth said, there was no way he would sell it. It had been in his family for generations, it was his inheritance! The King went to the palace angry and sullen because he didn’t get what he wanted. He refused to eat and went to bed sulking. His wife Jezebel asked him what in the world is the matter? What has gotten you so angry and upset? He said, ‘Naboth won’t sell me his vineyard. (1 Kings 21:1-6 TLB)
Jezebel said, “Is this any way for a king of Israel to act? Aren’t you the boss? Get up and eat! I’ll take care of it.” (1 Kings 21:7 Message) She wrote letters with Ahab’s signature, stamped with his seal, and sent them to the civic leaders in Naboth’s city. She wrote, “Call for a fast day and put Naboth at the head table. Then seat a couple of stool pigeons across from him who will say, ‘You blasphemed God and the king!’ Then they’ll throw him out and stone him to death.”  And they did it. (1 Kings 21:8-14 Message) When Jezebel got the news of Naboth’s death, she told King Ahab, ‘The vineyard is yours, Naboth is dead!’ So, Ahab went to claim the land! But God told Elijah the prophet to go to meet Ahab at the vineyard with a message, ‘Isn’t murdering Naboth bad enough? Must you steal from him too? Because you have done this, dogs will lick your blood outside the city just as they licked Naboth’s blood. (1 Kings 21:16-19 TLB)
When Ahab saw Elijah he said, ‘So my enemy has found me!’ Elijah said, ‘I have come to place God’s curse upon you because you have sold yourself to the devil! The Lord is going to bring harm to you and sweep you away, and not even one of your male descendants will survive just as He did the family of King Jeroboam and King Baasha. You have made God very angry because you have led all of Israel into sin. And the Lord also said, ‘the dogs of Jezreel shall tear apart the body of your wife, Jezebel!’ The members of your family in the city shall be eaten by dogs and those who die in the country will be eaten by vultures. (1 Kings 21:17-24 NLB)
King Ahab was sold out to the devil and his wife Jezebel encouraged him to do evil, and he worshipped idols. Ahab died in battle and was buried, but the dogs licked the blood from his clothes. (1 Kings 22:30-40) Eunuchs threw Jezebel out the window of the palace, but when they went out to bury her, they found only her skull, feet, and hands. (2 Kings 9:30-35) A person may do evil a long time and it may appear they are getting by with it, but God has the final say in our lives.
Will you join me in praying for the people and the country of Ukraine and I ask God to show up just as He did for Jehoshaphat and all Israel. They sent the singers out front and they began praising the Lord and the enemy turned on themselves and destroyed themselves and I declare this enemy will turn on themselves and destroy each other in Jesus’ name!
(2 Chronicles 20)
