Fasting to Hear the Voice of God
In hunger and thirst, in fastings often.
(2 Corinthians 11:27 KJV)
My child, it is My desire that you would fast often, why you ask? So, you will be more sensitive and hear My voice. Paul stated he fasted often which means he willingly denied himself food. He also mentions that he had suffered hunger. Fasting and suffering from hunger are two different things. Hunger is when you don’t have food available to eat. Have you ever been in a situation where you didn’t have money to purchase food and the cupboards were bare?
Paul understood what it was to go hungry. Fasting is when you choose to do without food when it’s available – to hear My voice. When you choose to deny yourself food too fast it’s also part of dying to your flesh. Have you been in a season of silence? You can break that off your life through fasting. (Genesis Job I created men and their basic human instincts. ) According to Psychologists: ‘Man has two basic needs: he eats food for his survival, he engages in intimacy with his spouse to satisfy a deep-rooted desire to guarantee the survival of species.
I created man in My image and likeness to be self-preserving and to reproduce after their own kind. (Genesis 1:27-28) When you are My Son/Daughter your pursuit of Me is greater than your desire to sustain and succeed. Fasting often – as Paul has indicated he did, revealed the place I occupied in his life and indicates the place I occupy in your life too. Seeking Me first above everything else My beloved should be your number one desire. Jeremiah (29:11-13) Set aside quiet time alone with Me to seek Me for direction for the coming year. (Jeremiah 33”) I will speak to you in your dreams if need be. Call upon My name and I will hear you and show you great and mighty things you know nothing about. For when you seek Me with all your heart you shall surely find Me and hear My voice! (Genesis 11:1-8)
