Empowered by the Holy Spirit
Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene get up and walk!”
(Acts 3:6 NLT)
My beloved child think about this, Peter and John had no college educations, and the only training they did have was as fishermen. However, they had been with Jesus, and they had a revelation of the power that’s in the name of Jesus. (Acts 4:13) They had gone with Jesus and handed out bread and fish after Jesus had multiplied them. (John 21:13) Peter and John had sat at the table with Jesus, often gazing into his face. (Luke 22:8) Often Jesus had to rebuke Peter, but He demonstrated His love through it all. (Mark 8:33) Jesus loved Peter, the disciple, even though he was a hothead and quick to act without thinking. Jesus was patient and loving with him. (Luke 22:49-51) But Peter said, “I am here to tell you there is power in Jesus, and His wonderful name will transform anyone and heal them. Fellowship with Him so you can get to know Him as the Lamb of God, God’s beloved Son upon whom was laid, ‘the iniquities of all mankind.’ (Isaiah 53:6) He gave His life, freeing us from every kind of sin. He cleanses us and makes us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. (Titus 2:14) Poor Peter and John had no money, but they had great faith. (Acts 3:6) They had the power of the Holy Spirit, and they had God! When you have God and nothing else – you have it all!
Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day his friends would drop him off outside the Temple gate so he could beg for money as people were entering. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money. Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ, get up and walk!” Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. This lame man jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them. All the people saw him walking and heard him praising God. When they realized he was the lame beggar they had seen so often at the Beautiful Gate, they were astounded! They all rushed out in amazement to Solomon’s Colonnade, where the man held tightly to Peter and John. (Acts 3:1-11 NLT) You may have nothing in the world’s eyes, but you do have the power of the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what the Father instructs him to say. He will tell you about the future. (John 16:13) Having the power of the Holy Spirit, you have it all!
