Be a Channel of Generosity
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38 NKJV)
I love how the Father speaks to us when we least expect it. Lately, God has been talking to me a lot about generosity. Every time I go to a restaurant, have a massage, or do something publicly or bless someone in need, God speaks to me to give extravagantly. Each time He nudges me and says, ‘give generously – you are a channel of My blessings!’ Wow! I have desired for years to be blessed financially; so, I could give generously. When I know someone who’s really in need, such as a widow, orphan, or single mom trying to raise her children alone, I want to sow into them. (James 1:27, Isaiah 1:17)
How do you feel when someone blesses you? For me, it is a humbling, joyous experience. I rejoice, knowing they are about to get blessed. When God speaks to you to give, it is because He has a blessing with your name on it. The only way He can get the blessing to you is if you first sow something. Why? It is a universal law that what you sow, you reap. How do you feel when you bless someone? I feel joyful and grateful! I don’t just go around giving everywhere I go; I listen to the Holy Spirit and sow where He tells me to sow. But I do look for an opportunity to give. I’ve had two opportunities to bless two different people today, not based on my bank account but being obedient to the Holy Spirit. “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:25) I don’t give to receive, but can I tell you – ‘you cannot outgive God!’ He amazes me! Every time I obey and sow, Bam! He gives it right back to me and then some! Keep in mind when you give, ‘God owns it all!’
I know I am not the only person God is speaking to about giving! There is about to be a transference of wealth take place in the body of Christ. I believe God is positioning us to receive the blessing coming for us to be a blessing and finance the end-time harvest! How do you become a channel of generosity?
1.By recognizing and acknowledging the earth is the Lord’s, all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it. (Psalms 24:1)
2. Recognize and acknowledge that God is your provider. (Philippians 4:19)
3. Recognize that you must be a good steward and guard what has been entrusted to your care. (1 Timothy 6:18-20a)
Everything you and I have belongs to God; we are stewards of His generosity. We are not to hoard for ourselves or our family. It brings God great pleasure to give gifts to His children. His Word says, ‘fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. (Luke 12:32) So if you, sinful people, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. (Matthew 7:11)
I dream of one day soon calling a local dealership, purchasing a car, and have it delivered anonymously to someone trying and in need. I declare it will happen over and over again. How does that happen? You get out of debt, so you can! I worked hard for many years, with my focus on getting out of debt. I created a budget and began a journey of paying off my high-interest credit cards. I started with one card, when I paid it off – I went to the next card. I did this until I was out of debt. Please note I was faithful to tithe, sow offerings and give First Fruits during the process. One day, Bam! I was debt-free and became a channel of blessing!
You don’t have to wait to be a channel of blessing; you can start right where you are. I love to keep a one-hundred-dollar bill in my wallet, and when God speaks to me, be a channel of blessing. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive. It is written, ‘A farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a cheerful giver.” God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need, and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor; their good deeds will be remembered forever.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-10) May you become a Channel of Blessing!
