Demonstrate God’s Glory and Excellence
Beloved one you have been given a deposit of God’s glory. Whether you believe it or not God put you in the family you are in not to be loved by them, but to learn from them. We learn what not to do within our family. You may have family members who do not treat you right, but they are giving you an opportunity to walk in love and learn powerful life lessons. Your family of origin is to learn from, not to be loved by them. If they love you then that is just the cherry on top! God has called you to be a lifelong learner. Why? Because He wants you to become great and you’ve got to learn what that means. God desires for you to manifest His glory and excellence in the earth.
You and I have been called by God to demonstrate His glory and excellence and to advance the Kingdom of God. We are living memorials of God’s glory and excellence. So, come on, let’s leave the preschool fingerpainting exercises on Christ and get on with the grand work of art. Grow up in Christ. The basic foundational truths are in place: turning your back on “salvation by self-help” and turning in trust toward God; baptismal instructions; laying on of hands; resurrection of the dead; eternal judgment. God helping us, and we’ll stay true to all that. But there’s so much more. Let’s get on with it! (Hebrews 6:1-3 Message)
Once people have seen the light, gotten a taste of heaven, and been part of the work of the Holy Spirit, once they’ve personally experienced the sheer goodness of God’s Word and the powers breaking in on us—if then they turn their backs on it, washing their hands of the whole thing, well, they can’t start over as if nothing happened. That’s impossible. Why, they’ve re-crucified Jesus! They’ve repudiated him in public! Parched ground that soaks up the rain and then produces an abundance of carrots and corn for its gardener gets God’s “Well done!” But if it produces weeds and thistles, it’s more likely to get cussed out. Fields like that are burned, not harvested. (Hebrews 6:4-6)
This is what we have to look forward to: The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” (Psalms 92:12-15) So be grateful for your family and what they have taught you. God is using it through you to demonstrate His glory and excellence and to advance His Kingdom.
