Spending Time with God
O God, you are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You.(Psalm 63:1, NKJV)
Beloved child, do you spend time with God every day? I was saved when I was nine, but I have not truly walked with God daily until I walked through a very dark season almost twenty years ago. What do I mean by that? I am talking about focused uninterrupted time with the Lord. (Mark 16:31) God seemed to come to my door one day and ask if I would start walking with Him by getting up early in the morning for prayer and Bible reading. At first, I thought it was something I had to do. I dragged my feet because I found I didn’t want to sacrifice the extra few minutes of sleep! He was so patient as He waited for me to understand that it wasn’t something I had to do; instead, it was an honor to have personal time and fellowship with Him. It’s an opportunity to grow in my love relationship with Him.
One reason I have maintained my walk with God is that no one else – not my beloved family or my close and loyal friends really understands me. No one else truly knows me, though I am transparent. No one knows me like Jesus! He knows my heart, my pain, my longings, my dreams, my failures, He knows me inside out. He knows everything about me and still loves me. (Psalms 139:1-6) Abba Father when I am lonely You keep me company, when I am fearful You give me peace, (Isaiah 41:10) when I am sick you comfort, strengthen, and heal me. (Psalms 147:3) When I have a need You provide! (Philippians 4:19) There is nothing that can separate me from You and Your love. (Romans 8:31-39) You are my everything – my constant companion! (John 14:27) You go with me everywhere I go. (Genesis 28:15) You are my peace in the middle of every storm. Thank you, Abba Father for who You are in my life!
