Called by God

Beloved one, God used many men and women in the Bible to impact or influence others’ lives. I know He’s still using people today. I believe someone is reading this, and God desires to use you to impact a generation. Yield and obey the Holy Spirit! I remember the exact moment and time God called me. I felt so unworthy, and unqualified. I had made so many mistakes, but I come to realize through the years I learned many lessons and gained wisdom and great compassion. God calls those who have made mistakes and gives you the compassion to minister to those who are down and outers and broken. I wish I count the times through the years I’ve been sent an email or been confronted by someone asking me why I am in ministry because I am a woman. I usually ask them to pray and ask God because He is the one who called me, I’m just obeying. The Bible is filled with women who went down in history in the greatest book of all time, the Word of God. Today I want to share with you only four women who made an impact on others and their generation.

My favorite of all, Deborah was a prophetess, a judge, and a mother of Israel. (Judges 4-5) Her name was spelled Debora. What does it mean to be the mother of Israel? A Mother of Israel is someone who prays and intercedes for Israel. Debora was a national prophet and judge that was recognized throughout Israel. Israel came to her to settle disputes. Prophets can settle disputes. Deborah’s role as a mother represented her love and compassion for Israel. Mothers can be prophets. She was one of my personal favorites. She had the love and support of her husband, Lappidoth. (Judges 4)

Anna was a praying and fasting prophet. (Luke 2:36-38) She had been married to her husband for seven years when he died. A widow until she was eighty-four. Anna was a holy and wise woman, a well-known and likely well-respected figure, which would make her story and background known to many. She spoke to all those who were looking for redemption and the coming Messiah. Through her prayer and fasting, she helped prepare the way for the Lord to come. She prayed and fasted in the temple and did not depart from the house of God. Anna is a picture of the intercessory prophet. (Amos 3:7)

Huldah was a prophet who was recognized by King Josiah. When the king discovered the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes and sent men to Huldah to inquire of the Lord. Huldah was the keeper of the king’s wardrobe and spoke the word of the Lord to the king about the coming judgment upon Israel. (2 Kings 22:13-20, Chronicles 34:22-28) She stated that it would not happen in his day because he had humbled himself.

The major prophet Isaiah considered his wife to be a prophetess. This shows that both a husband and wife can be prophets. This will make a strong prophetic team. So, I went into the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the Lord said to me, Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. (Isaiah 8:1-3) The Lord makes it clear in scripture when it comes to the importance of women in the Bible. What is God telling you to do? Don’t let fear stand in the way! Obey?
