Testing the Spirits
My beloved child, I am thrusting you forth to a higher level of discernment you have for these are evil days. I want you to know the truth for it is the truth that sets you free. (John 8:32 NLT) Do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit! You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God the Father because there are many false prophets in the world. (1 John 4:1 NLT). By this, you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming and is now already in the world. This is how you will know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet[a] acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. (1 John 4:2 NLT) But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here. (1 John 4:3 NLT)
You are of God, mighty child of God, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4 NLT) They are of the world, and they speak as of the world, and the world hears them, but you are of God. The person who knows God hears you, but he who is not of God does not listen to you. By this, we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error/deception. (1 John 4:5-6 NLT) We know God through love so let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. A person who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this, the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atonement for our sins. (1 John 4:7-10 NLT) What a mighty God we serve! Love on somebody today!
