Grip Your Dream Tight and Don’t Let Go
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised. (Hebrews 10:23 KJV)

When I grew up, we lived in the country on a dirt road about seven miles to the nearest town in Bald Knob, Arkansas. We didn’t see many people where we lived, but one day I overheard a conversation about a car called a Jaguar. I had not seen one, but it sure sounded good to me. One day my friend Diane Thomason and I were walking, and out of the blue, I said, ‘Diane when I grow up, I am going to drive a Jaguar!’ There is power in your words!

I didn’t pray for a Jaguar I spoke about it that day and never thought about it again until I was driving one twenty-five years later. Many years and hard times went by, but in 1998 I saved the money to pay cash for a like new, low-mileage corvette that had never been in the rain in mint condition. I only had it 30 days when the Holy Spirit spoke to me to sow it into a ministry. Immediately I said, ‘I rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus! How could God ask me to sow this car, when I had no money to purchase a new one? I thought I was hearing things!
For three days, I rebuked Satan, prayed, and read the Word of God. Three days later, I knew I was hearing the voice of the Lord, and I obeyed. God had other plans for me. Within no time I was driving a brand-new Jaguar XJ8! It was never about the car it was all about the dream! The Holy Spirit spoke to me one day right after I received my new car, ‘He wanted that twelve-year-old little girl who grew up with nothing to know how important her dreams are to Him! Your dreams are important to God! What are your dreams? I didn’t drive one new Jaguar XJ8 God blessed me to drive three new Jaguars in 10 years. It was never about the car – it was always about God wanting me to know my dreams are important to him, and so are yours. What is your dream?

God gave Joseph a dream as a young boy that one day, he would rule over his older siblings. (Genesis 37:5) Even though they threw him in a pit, (Genesis 37:24) sold him into slavery (Genesis 37:18-36) and innocent, Joseph was sentenced to prison for thirteen long years (Genesis 39:19-21) he never let go of his dream. He gripped it tightly! Let us ‘hold fast’ or ‘cling tightly’ to the profession of our faith without wavering. (Hebrews 10:23)
Hold fast in the Greek is ‘Katecho’ which is a compound word, and it carries the idea that comes downward with force, to embrace something and hold it tightly and with force! You must take hold of your dream with force, pull it down and to yourself, and don’t let anything take it from you! The devil will try to steal your dream, and he will even use people to steal it, but when you are holding on with a firm grip, it will become a tug-of-war! You must know the Holy Spirit is with you; He will empower you and strengthen you because greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world! The devil can’t take your dream from you! There are two essential factors the devil with use to try to get you to let go of your dream:
1.    Time – Time is your weapon. Don’t let go!
2.    People – discourage you or will take it from you. Don’t let go!
Whatever you do, don’t let go! Keep your eyes focused on God and your heart full of the Word. He has all the answers to all your questions, and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Hold on firmly to your dream and don’t let time or people steal it from you. If you let up a little Satan interprets that as surrender. Don’t let go! There will come a time when you seize it! If you don’t have a dream or vision stop what you’re doing and go pray and ask God to give you a dream. He has a plan for you!
