Potential Leaders
So then, let us [who minister] be regarded as servants of Christ and stewards (trustees, administrators) of the mysteries of God [that He chooses to reveal]. (1 Corinthians 4:1 Amplified)
Beloved one, consider these five areas of significant importance if you’re wanting to be a leader or considering someone as a leader. You can determine how well a person will serve by taking a good look at their:

1.    Homelife (2 Corinthians 6:14, Ephesians 5:21)
2.    Children (Proverbs 22:6, Psalms 127:3-5)
3.    House (Isaiah 32:18, Proverbs 24:3-4, Proverbs 12:24)
4.    Body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
5.    Finances (1 Timothy 5:8)
Get to know them personally. What kind of relationship do they have with their spouse/children? (Joshua 24:15) If the potential leader can’t communicate with the most influential people in their life, how do you know they will properly communicate with others at church or work? Do their children honor and obey them? (Proverbs 22:6) Nothing gives a sharper vision into what kind of person a leader will be than the example of their children. Not always, but most often, the children of potential leaders are respectful and honoring of their parents. Pay attention to what seeds they have sown in their home. What kind of fruit do you see? Do their children speak with respect, do they respect each other, do they understand authority and submission and do the children obey their parents or ignore them?
These are essential displays to let you know how the person will lead. What kind of home do they have? Is it well kept and maintained? Have they neglected their home, is it falling apart? Is there clutter everywhere? Is the yard mowed? How do they get along with their neighbors? (1 Peter 4:8) If a potential leader can’t take care of their home, you don’t want them in charge! Lastly, how does this person handle their finances and pay their monthly bill? The way a person handles their finances is very revealing. It tells a lot about their integrity, character, and how they respect the rights of others.
Are they tithers? (Malachi 3:10) Are they givers? (Luke 6:38) If not they are under a curse. It may be a sign this person isn’t mature in the understanding of managing being responsible with money or perhaps they can’t say ‘no’ to the lust of the flesh for material things. (1 John 2:16) A person’s financial problems are an indicator that they are experiencing marital problems as well or their life is unstable due to lack of work. Each area is a serious matter when considering someone for a leadership position. Does the person you are considering have time, energy, and maturity to handle the job with greater responsibility? It is impossible to separate a leader’s private life from their public life! What does your private life reveal about you?
