Jesus was a Mentor
My child, during the three and a half years of My Son’s ministry on the earth – He spent most of His time with twelve not twelve hundred or twelve thousand. During this time the Disciples went from ignorant, unlearned men to bold anointed Leaders. The transformation took place in each of them because My Son invested time in them. He spoke in their lives and practiced proverbs – which means He spent more time with fewer people making a more significant impact on the kingdom. Have you ever desired to be a mentor? There are five keys to being a good mentor:
1. Simplify the truth and make it understandable for others to comprehend, model, and pass on to others. I presented My Word so that it is easy to understand.
2. Blueprints or roadmaps give you the bigger picture, which helps you to understand where you are, and which direction you should go or not go to get to your destination.
3. On-the-job training to gain experience. I didn’t just teach the Disciples, they followed Me and practiced what I taught them.
4. Build a firm foundation. I gave the Disciples a firm foundation and an awareness of leaving a legacy. Their roots run deep and wide. They were immovable and unshakeable, willing to die for Me and what I taught.
5. Empower others to do greater things than you. Push them and cheer them on to their victories.
Who did Jesus Mentor? One day soon afterward he went out into the mountains to pray and prayed all night. At daybreak, he called together his followers and chose twelve of them to be the inner circle of his disciples. (They were appointed as his “apostles,” or “missionaries.”) Here are their names: Simon (he also called him Peter), Andrew (Simon’s brother), James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James (the son of Alphaeus), Simon (a member of the Zealots, a subversive political party), Judas (son of James), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him). (Luke 6:12-16 LB)
He was a role model for what was to come as He mentored the twelve disciples. When they came down the slopes of the mountain, they stood with Jesus on a large, level area, surrounded by many of his followers who, in turn, were surrounded by the crowds. For people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and from as far north as the seacoasts of Tyre and Sidon had come to hear him or to be healed. And he cast out many demons. Everyone was trying to touch him, for when they did, healing power went out from him, and they were cured. (Luke 6:17-19 LB) Jesus said, “In solemn truth I tell you, anyone believing in me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask him for anything, using my name, and I will do it, for this will bring praise to the Father because of what I, the Son, will do for you. Yes, ask anything, using my name, and I will do it! (John 14:12-13 LB)
I am raising you up currently to impact your world. It’s not about the masses; it’s about touching the world one person at a time for greater effectiveness. Who is watching and observing you right now? You are a role model, and I have deposited much in you to pour out to others this season! To accomplish all that I planned for you this year you must discipline yourself. Pour into the one and then the next one and you will make a great impact on your sphere of influence. It is a New and Exciting Day to live in the Kingdom.
