Jehovah Raah – The Lord is My Shepherd
Precious child I am Jehovah-Raah, (Psalm 23:1 NKJV) I am the One who watches over you, protecting, healing and providing for you. I fight the battle for you when you are still and listening, and I am the One who gives you peace beyond your understanding. (Philippians 4:7) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want for anything. Rô’eh from which Raah derived, means “shepherd” in Hebrew. A shepherd is one who feeds or leads his flock to pasture. This indicates the intimacy God desires between Himself and His people.
It can even mean The Lord is my friend or The Lord , my companion. (Psalms 55:13) It means that He is near. (Isaiah 55:6) He is very close. (James 4:8) He watches over me. (Psalms 121:5-8) He hears me when I call. (Psalms 4:4) He listens to me and understands me. He is my caregiver. (Isaiah 54:4)
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So, when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me -  just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. (John 10:11-16 NIV)
I declare and decree this over you and your family this day, ‘The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide, and to shield me], I shall not want for anything. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord, therefore, it is established this day!’ (Psalms 23:1-6, Job 22:28 Amplified) Amen.
