Covering
My child, I honor faithfulness and obedience. Noah was obedient and built an ark in a day and a time where there was no rain, only the dew. It took him 120 years to build the ark but with every nail, he drove he preached the Word I had given him, ‘Repent! Repent! Repent! For the coming of the Lord is at hand. Today that same message is resounding in the earth but just as it was on that day there will be many who will not listen and obey. He built the ark, brought the animals in two by two, his family, and closed the door! The rain began and flooded the earth. I count Noah as righteous because he believed Me and obeyed. After the flood, I blessed Noah and his sons: Shem, Japheth, and Ham, and told them to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. (Genesis 9:1)
I established My covenant and confirmed it with the rainbow. Every time you see the rainbow throughout all generations it is a reminder of My covenant that I will never destroy the earth again by water. (Genesis 9:8-17) After the water dried up Noah and his family came off the ark with all the animals. (Genesis 9:18-19) Noah began to farm and cultivate the ground and he planted a vineyard that produced grapes – he made wine and drank so much he passed out in a drunken stupor. His youngest son Ham saw him lying there in his nakedness passed out to his shame and went and told his brothers. Japheth and Shem took a robe and put it on both their shoulders and backed in the place where Noah laid with their faces looking away not to see his nakedness and they covered their father.
When Noah woke up, he knew what his youngest son had done to him, it angered him, and he cursed Ham and blessed Japheth and Shem. Never gossip when someone you love has made a mistake – cover him or her in prayer. Guard your lips and preserve your life. (Proverbs 13:3) I have purer eyes than to look at evil. They honored their dad by covering him not expecting anything in return. (Genesis 9:20-27) Not only did their Dad honor them but blessed them as well. Whoever curses his father or mother, their lamp (of life) will be snuffed out in pitch darkness. (Proverbs 20:19-20)
