A Plague in the Land
My beloved God has a plan for your life; it’s for good and not for evil, to give you a future and give you hope. (Jeremiah 29:11-13) The question is, ‘are you in alignment with God and His plan?’ Israel is God’s chosen people; however, through a series of bad choices, they found themselves enslaved to Pharaoh and the government of a heathen nation, in Egypt. They cried out to God, and He sent a deliverer named Moses. (Exodus 14:1-4) In the midst of the greatest miracles ever seen on the face of the earth, God delivered His people and led them to the Promised Land. (Exodus 14:13-14) Get this, they were free and headed toward the Promised Land, a land of milk and honey. Yet they were not happy – whining and complaining about everything, especially the decisions their leader made. (Exodus 14:11-12)
Then one day, a man named Korah, who was actually Moses and Aaron’s cousin, showed up with two hundred and fifty followers. They announced that they didn’t like the way Moses was running the country. (Numbers 16:1-29) They exchanged words, and the decision was made to meet at the tabernacle, and let God decide who was in charge. Well, guess what? God showed up, and the ground opened up and swallowed Korah and all his followers, and all that belonged to them. (Numbers 16:30-35) Can you imagine something so unbelievable? God did that to warn the people not to repeat what Korah had done. But they didn’t listen?
The next morning the people began complaining again. (Numbers 16:41) They couldn’t believe that Moses had killed all those people for no reason. They did not see the hand of God at work in this whole journey. As they gathered against Moses, the Lord loosed a plague on the people. He told Moses and Aaron to separate themselves from the congregation because He was going to kill them all. (Numbers 16:44) Can you imagine this? Then suddenly, a plague began to hit the people, and they started dropping dead immediately. But Moses, being a mercy worker, fell to his knees to petition God and sent Aaron with his censer to get between the plague and the people. Before Aaron, who was running, could get to the people, 14,700 dropped dead. (Numbers 16:46-50) That swift and just that fast! Deadly! Does any of this sound familiar? A plague has been released not only on our nation but nations for almost two years.

Remember, this was God’s children, and they were not spared the plague! As they ran their mouth against the plan and man of God, they brought death to their own doorstep! Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity. (Proverbs 21:23) “It is He (God) who changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and greater knowledge to those who have understanding! (Daniel 2:21) There has been a plague in the land. Have you complained against the plan of God for this nation? Perhaps you have complained about the Commander and Chief of our country? Today is a good day to examine our hearts, repent, and align ourselves with God’s plan.
