Face to Face with an Angel of the Lord
God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own bodyand live-in holiness and honor – not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 NLT)
My child, have you ever had a divine encounter with an angel, or have you ever had a face-to-face encounter with Me? What would you do if I appeared to you face to face? How would you feel? Everyone responds differently to supernatural encounters. I want you to look at how My prophet Isaiah responded to this transforming event as a prophet when I appeared to him and meditate on it. He was a close friend to King Uzziah, in fact, Uzziah was a mentor to him. (Isaiah 6:1) However, I judged Uzziah harshly for the gross things he did in the temple, overstepping his authority in the functions of the priest’s. (2 Chronicles 26:15-19) Uzziah was struck with leprosy as punishment, and he lost the throne and had to live in separate housing with lepers. (2 Chronicles 26:20-23) Isaiah suffered great pain and suffered grief over this because they were close friends.
This was the year Isaiah received the anointing of the Holy Spirit on his life. Isaiah said: ‘it was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a throne high and lifted up, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. Attending Him were mighty seraphim crying out, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!” Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. (Isaiah 6:2-4) This all had a profound effect on Isaiah. A sense of unworthiness fell upon him and his response to seeing Me was this, ‘woe is me, I am a man undone. It’s all over for me – I am doomed! I am a sinful man with unclean lips, and I am around people with unclean lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.’ (Isaiah 6:5) Then the angel of the Lord had a piece of hot coal in his hands which he had taken from the altar with tongs, He touched Isaiah’s lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” (Isaiah 6:6-7) This was Isaiah’s ordination day!
Peter had the same response, when I directed him to another location to fish, he had net breaking, boats sinking catch of fish! (Luke 5:1-11) When he realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Me saying, ‘Oh Lord, please leave me – I’m too much of a sinner to be around you!’ When you pursue a life of holiness, purity, godliness, and Christlikeness one thing will happen – the closer you get to Me, the more you will look like Me – and the more you will feel a sense of unworthiness. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5) When you have an encounter with Me you will either feel undeserving of My touch or how great and omnipotent, I am!
