A Channel of Generosity
I love how the Father speaks to us at times we least expect it. Lately, God has been talking to me a lot about generosity. Every time I go to a restaurant, have a massage, or do something publicly or bless someone in need, God speaks to me to give extravagantly. Each time He nudges me and says, ‘give generously – you are a channel of My blessings!’ Wow! I have desired for years to be blessed financially; so, I can give generously.
I long to be a blessing when I hear of someone who’s really in need, such as a widow or single mom trying to raise her children alone and needs a car. I imagine what it would be like to call the local dealership, purchase a car and have it delivered anonymously. One day I declare it will happen. How does that happen? You get out of debt so you can be free! I worked hard for many years, with my focus on getting out of debt. I put myself on a budget and began a journey of paying off my high-interest credit cards. I started with one card, when I paid it off – I went to the next card. I did this until eventually, I was out of debt. I was faithful to tithe and sow during the process. One day, Bam! I was debt-free and became a channel of blessing!
When someone blesses you, how do you feel? When someone blesses me, it is a humbling, joyous experience. However, I rejoice knowing they are about to get blessed. It is also a very joyful experience to bless someone else. I don’t just go around giving everywhere I go; I listen to the Holy Spirit and sow where He tells me to sow. But I do look for an opportunity to give. Today, alone, I’ve had two opportunities to bless two different people not based on my bank account but being obedient to the Holy Spirit. “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:25) Keep in mind when you give, ‘God owns it all!’
I know I am not the only person God is speaking to about giving! There is about to be a transference of wealth take place in the body of Christ. I believe God is positioning us to receive the blessing that is coming for you and me to be a blessing! How do you become a channel of generosity?
1.By recognizing and acknowledging the earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it. (Psalms 24:1)
2. Recognize and acknowledge that God is your provider. (Philippians 4:19)
3. Recognize that you must be a good steward and guard what has been entrusted to your care. (1 Timothy 6:18-20a)
Everything you and I have belongs to God; we are stewards of His generosity. I am not to hoard for myself or my family. It brings God great pleasure to give gifts to His children. His Word says, ‘fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. (Luke 12:32) So if you, sinful people, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. (Matthew 7:11)
To be a channel of blessing, you don’t have to wait; you can start right where you are. I love to keep one-hundred-dollar bills in my wallet, and when I am out and God speaks to me, be a channel of blessing. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive. It is written, ‘A farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need, and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” ‘(2 Corinthians 9:6-10) May you become a Channel of Blessing!
