What is Your Vision?
My beloved child, can you imagine in your old age, God giving you a command, telling you to leave your family and friends and move to a new land, and He will show you where to go? Would you do it? God instructed Abram at seventy-five years of age to pack up and move! God said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you. Promising I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with disrespect. Through you, all families on the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3) God gave Abram instructions to move, but there were no details of what route he would take to get where he was going. He told Abram to pack up his family, taking only the essentials, and leave his country. When God gives you a vision of the future, don’t you want Him to provide you with the instructions?
Don’t overthink it! By faith, take the first step, then God will give you more instruction to take the next step. When God gives me instruction throughout my life, it is always by faith I move forward. Example: March 2007, God spoke to me to write a daily devotional and send it out to everyone I know. I obeyed. In the beginning, I had forty emails, and I began sending devotionals five days a week. Never would I have dreamed that I would still be writing daily devotionals thirteen years later, and they go around the world today. Pastors contact me from all over the world to tell me they use my devotionals for their sermons. When God gives you an instruction, though it may seem simple – Obey! You never know how God will use it. I have repeatedly asked God if it is time to stop, and He has not released me to stop.
Abram obeyed God. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all his wealth, cattle, and slaves and arrived in Shesham. Then Jehovah appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there to commemorate Jehovah’s visit. (Genesis 12:4-7) By faith, Abram obeyed when God commanded him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as an inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8 NLT) Would you do that? When God communicates His vision for your life, He will give you an instruction, and it will be up to you to trust Him and take the first step. You don’t have to be concerned if He hasn’t given you many details; He will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) What’s more, He is with you, and He will protect you wherever you go. He will not leave you until He has finished giving you everything, He has promised you.” (Genesis 28:15 NLT)
