Mantles Are Still Falling

by

My child mentors are important in your life for they know what you do not know and they have been where you have not been. A Mentor will shorten your learning curve!  King Uzziah mentored Isaiah, when he died he had an encounter with the One and only living God – Me, and it was the beginning of his ministry. My Son Jesus mentored the twelve disciples and Paul mentored Timothy. Moses mentored Joshua and anointed him and his mantle fell on Joshua just before the end of his ministry. A mantle can be seen as a symbol of the anointing of the Holy Spirit whom I so graciously gives to all Christians, the people of My choosing.

Before Elijah ascended to Heaven and at the end of his ministry he dropped his mantle to the ground and Elisha picked it up and the Spirit of Elijah came on him.  The ascension and the passing of the mantle are linked.  My Son Jesus mantle is too Big to fall on any one person and it falls on every believer.  The My Spirit fell on the Disciples on the Day of Pentecost. My Son the Messiah mantle fell on them all! Mantles are still falling today and available to every believer – all you have to do is receive them.  These are different examples of stories throughout Scripture of the transfer of prophetic authority from Elijah to Elisha provides a model for how Church callings are passed from one person to another.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal – which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:1-8 NLT)

This letter is from Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, appointed by the command of God our Savior and Christ Jesus, who gives us hope. I am writing to Timothy, my true son in the faith. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.
(1 Timothy 1:1-2 NLT)

Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him, doing just as the LORD had commanded Moses. (Deuteronomy 34:9 NLT)

And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel.
And so it was when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces. He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.
